When You Need a Personal Injury Lawyer

Some personal injury claimants decide to handle their own personal injury claims in the hopes of settling the matter. At times, the claimant’s best efforts to settle their personal injury case through an accident insurance claim may ultimately result in them seeking legal assistance due to a number of complications and difficulties. This article will discuss when a claimant needs a personal injury lawyer to handle their accident claim or personal injury case. There are a number of factors that make it imperative for an injured individual to seek legal representation for their personal injury claim or lawsuit. It should be noted that not in all cases require legal representation; at times, an individual may require only a few hours of legal advice. If you’re trying to handle your personal injury claim on your own, you may want to consult an experienced personal injury lawyer at different points in the claims process for a number of reasons. Some of these reasons include the following: You cannot handle your claim - at the beginning of the process, or at some point along the way, you may decide that your accidental injury claim is too big or too complicated for you to handle without a lawyer. This may be due to technical or legal complexities that make it very difficult for a non-lawyer to manage. Or it could be that your injuries are severe or permanently disabling which makes the case more valuable and also means there is a wide range of money you might recover. In such cases, it becomes worth the cost of a lawyer to ensure that you maximize your compensation. In other cases, it is possible that while the claim is not particularly big or complicated, you may not be comfortable handling the case on your own. In any of these situations your hiring an injury lawyer will relieve your stress in addition to a fair compensation. You reach a stalemate with the insurance company - in some cases you may handle your claim comfortably and competently but may still need to hire a lawyer because the insurance company refuses to make a settlement offer. If you believe that your claim is worth a lot more than what the insurance company is offering, you will need a lawyer to help you in court in order to get the compensation that you deserve. An insurance company might give reasons for refusing to make a reasonable offer, and may include: Denial of liability - it is not unusual for an insurance company to initially deny that their insured was at fault for the accident. This is done with the hope that you will believe it or will quickly become frustrated and give up and drop your claim. However, if the insurance company won’t budge from denial of responsibility, you may need help from a lawyer. Denial of coverage - insurance companies may state that the particular accident is not covered by the insurance policy; in an instance such as this, it is important to take your claim to an experienced personal injury lawyer for assistance.
